My Story
Rural Thailand
I grow up in a rural area in Thailand in a town called Ban Na Ngua, in the Petchabun province.
As a young girl at the age of 9, I help sliced and diced the meat and vegetable. At the age of 13, my responsibility increased to taste the food, to see if it needed any spice and such. I was taught how each dish should taste and what it should look like. By the age of 14, my job was to plans and create a menu for my large family of 16, which ranged from a toddler to aging grandparents.
The flavors ranged from no spice to extra spice to mild spice. Each meal I created was inspired by herbs and vegetation around the yard of my childhood. Each day, I would walk through the yard and check herbs and vegetables to see which would suit that meal. I enjoyed creating home cook meals that brought comfort to those who enjoy a simple meal with lots of flavors.
My inspiration
Thai flavour, one home at a time
I moved to Canada more than 30 years ago, I have tried western cuisine but find that I preferred Thai cuisine, with rich coconut flavor, combine with lemongrass and galangal, chili peppers, and kaffir limes for exquisite flavour.
I have been teaching Thai cooking classes to those who have traveled to Thailand and discovered they craved the Thai spices. And I enjoy educating and preparing for those who are about to travel to Thailand so they know what to expect.
My love of food has inspired me to share the Thai flavour one home at a time.
I do this wiith the hope that I can bring joy to those who enjoy eating and challenge those who have never tasted the different flavor. Thai food is not spicy, it's flavorful. Food should look good then it will taste good.
